My heart goes out to Meadow Brook Stables and their new foal Easy. It’s just heartbreaking to have to go through this journey. Here at Helping Hands we can empathize with them because we’ve certainly had our share of newborn foal issues. They said, “We just got an update from the Vet at AVC. It wasn’t exactly the update we had been hoping for.
Easy is still with us and still fighting. She still has energy and pep to give the staff a bit of a rodeo when doing her IV fluids this am, but she does seem to be more uncomfortable today overall.”
“She has started coughing more and bringing up a lot of mucus from her lungs (which is good), but makes her feel like crap (which is bad).”
“She is still leaking urine from her umbilicus but is also urinating normally as well. She needed another enema to help get things moving as she was still pretty backed up.
She is grinding her teeth more which is often a sign of pain. It could be from her lungs and chest and also could be from Gl pain. They did mention about possibly doing a scope to check for ulcers or treating her for ulcers.
She has a feeding tube in to make sure the milk is getting directly to her stomach and keeping it out of her lungs.”
“The vet did stress that she is very sick but she doesn’t seem to know she is very sick. “We are going to take it hour by hour and day by day. If there is a chance she can still get through this we are going to do everything we can to support her.
